RS/3 System overview

RS/3 consists of three parts; the base station, the wireless modem, and the software for the radio control, network maintenance and end-user management.

The base station is placed within or close to the area to be covered and is easily connected to an existing backbone. Clients who wish to subscribe for a broadband service can easily install a wireless modem by themselves. RS/3 is developed to meet the operators demands on reliability, optimized radiotransmission, and minimum support towards end-users.

The Repeatit RS/3 system is today used by many commercial network operators throughout the UK & Europe. Wireless LAN Source use this system to deliver temporary Wireless Broadband Networks at outdoor events including the Royal Welsh Show.

repeatit system overview

repeatit, backbone network

BS-5432 and SU-5431

Repeatit offers a powerful and flexible system to build reliable high performance networks. Whether your need is to set up an entire wireless access network or just to set up a cost effective link from one point to another, Repeatit has the solution.

Carrier-Class performance1

Repeatit has combined advanced telecom solutions with modern computer network technology to achieve a flexible, yet reliable system. All based on WLAN standards.

System

The 5430-series is plug-and-play enabled for the central Element Management software - RCS. This gives the system unparalleled performance and puts the network operator in total control of the system and its customers. The products are built for remote automated configuration from the RCS and enables quick installation and online supervision. The RCS can be configured in advance for a new set of base stations. When the base stations and clients are connected, the RCS will provide the different units with all necessary configuration via built-in software agents. The base stations and clients have self-checking software that reports the status to the RCS.

Freedom of Choice

Repeatit offers network owners a powerful and flexible instrument to build a reliable high performance network that allows for network services such as VoIP and Video on Demand. With the 5430-series, it is up to the network owner to decide which standard to use; 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g or a combination thereof. This flexibility is achieved by the triple standard radios with which the backbone products are equipped. This leaves the customer with the freedom of choice in every aspect.

Ease of use

The products are designed for optimal performance and easy installation. It means that they are built for outdoor use in a compact fashion. The housing protects from rain, wind and dust. Only one outdoor Cat5 cable is required for power as well as transmission.

Repeatit, subscriber networks

SU-2410b/g & SU-5410a

Repeatit offers network owners a powerful and flexible system to build reliable high performance networks all the way to the end customer, exploiting all the benefits that come with the various WLAN standards.

Freedom of Choice

Thanks to the extensive range of different models of customer premises equipment, it is up to the network owner to decide which standard to use; 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g or a combination thereof. Flexibility is achieved by providing consumer products in conjunction with backbone products for all available standards, leaving the customer with the freedom of choice in every aspect.

Ease of Use

The subscriber units are designed for optimal performance and easy installation. It means that they are built for outdoor use and are delivered complete wtih necessary brackets. The housing protects from rain, wind and dust. No matter which standard is your choice, the units come with integrated or external antenna options. No software is required since the modems are equipped with a webserver that only require a browser in order to configure the settings. All modems can be set in NAT router mode, Transparent bridge mode or Non-transparent bridge mode.

Performance

Depending on your or your customers needs, you will find that each subscriber unit has its advantages. With 11b products you get all the quality and user friendliness that has become a trademark of Repeatit. Yet, the single radio subscriber unit, made for 802.11b, maintain a low threshold investment for household customers.

With the new subscriber units you can build access networks that exploit 54 Mbps data rate, allowing for an array of new services. The OFDM modulation in 802.11g and 802.11a also enables you to build in densly built areas. Where reflections from buildings earlier have been regarded as obstacles, OFDM can take advantage of them and actually make the connections even more stabile.

Taking the step from 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g) to 5.4/5.8 GHz as in the 802.11a standard, makes every bit of difference. The price performance ratio is far better than that of WiMAX. The technology is available today and is license free in most parts of the world, thus no tedious license application processes are required. The availability of 11 outdoor + 8 indoor non-interfering channels instead of three in the 2.4 GHz frequency, makes it easy to design networks with a large number of users in a small area.

Multistandard allows Easy Upgrade

By upgrading the basestations from pure 802.11b to our triple standard 5430-series you can let existing customers remain in the network using their 11b modems, while at the same time allowing new customers entry with 11g or 11a standard modems, thus growing your commercial platform step by step. Naturally you can build the entire network with 802.11a right from the start, provided you supply your customers with 802.11a enabled modems - SU-5410a and SU-5411a/b/g.

Radio Control Software

Specialist partners, repeatit

The RS/3 Radio Control Software, RCS, is a central part of the RS/3 system and enables the roll-out of large wireless networks. With the RCS, the network operator can maintain a high Quality of Service and efficiently tend to customer service. The result is a professional access network with low maintenance costs and satisfied customers.

Quality

The RCS system is a highly efficient tool that allows for complete control over your access network and facilitates customer service. Continuous collection of statistics in combination with the intelligence of the RCS let you know where you might have a problem before it happens. With the ability to traffic shape and prioritise each customer, RCS enables the network owner to maintain the quality and deliver services ie. Video streaming and IP telephony.

Customer Management

With the RCS system, the administration of users and equipment is fast and simple. Problematic support calls are easily handled by first line support with short handling time and satisfied customers as a result.

Scalability

The RS/3 RCS is meant for large networks and has unlimited potential for expansion and integration with other systems.

Simplicity

In the development of the RCS, design has been focussed on an intuitive and informative graphical user interface. The logical presentation of the network provides the user with a complete system overview in an instant, regardless of size and complexity.
